Arken: Heavy Metal with Precision and Power
Crushing riffs, powerful vocals, and sharp production — Arken delivers modern heavy metal with purpose, edge, and global reach.
Arken was founded in 2015 by Raph Ronin, along with the remaining members of São Paulo-based band Inner Call: Renato Passero, Fabio Lima, Arthur Lopes, and Rafael Negreiros.
At this point, Ronin’s earlier compositions became invaluable, as the members were eager to continue working together. After extensive composing and rehearsal sessions from 2015 until late 2016, the band had gathered enough material to enter the studio and record a full-length album.
Initially, the plan was to record a ten-track album, but financial difficulties arose. Despite the positive atmosphere and musical synergy, drummer Rafael Negreiros parted ways with the band after contributing to a few tracks.
To maintain momentum, the band decided to produce a demo EP with four songs – "Arken", "Care Less", "Fast Dog", and "Make It Real". Although this EP was never officially released, it was heavily circulated on social media and caught the attention of significant contacts within the music industry. Notably, a producer from LA offered a record deal based on his positive impression of "Make It Real". Unfortunately, the timing wasn’t right, as the band was incomplete and still developing their compositions.
In 2017, the band focused on creating new material and searching for a new drummer. Fabio Schultz took over as the new drummer.
Engineer Rogério Weko recorded the new EP at Dual Noise studio in São Paulo. The result was Arken’s first official release, titled "Arken", featuring the same three tracks from the demo EP – "Arken", "Care Less", and "Fast Dog", along with the addition of "Pieces of My Life".
The EP made a significant local impact when it was released digitally in August 2018.
By the end of the year, Fabio Schultz decided to step down, prompting another round of drummer auditions. In June 2019, Rey Bello was chosen as the new drummer.
The "Arken Opening Tour 2019" covered several cities across São Paulo’s countryside, culminating in a greater performance at Metal Stock 2019 festival in Botucatu.
Unfortunately, the pandemic struck, halting all plans for the full-length album’s release and subsequent touring. During this period, the drums for the track "Hope" were re-recorded by Rey Bello to feature on Roadie Metal's "6 Years Heavy" compilation, released in 2020. This compilation provided the opportunity to release "Hope" as a single, with a demo version of the song "Arken" on the B-side.
2021 was a pivotal year as Ronin relocated to Luxembourg.
The long-anticipated full-length album, "Social Nightmares", was digitally released on 23rd December 2023. The album featured an intro track and nine songs. The audience response was immediately positive, with organic growth surrounding the release.
Between December 2024 and January 2025, "Arken", "Hope", and "Social Nightmares" were released on vinyl via Elastic Stage UK. The physical release reached a wider audience, with copies shipped to countries across Europe, South America, and Asia.
Buoyed by this continued success, the band turned their attention to their second full-length album, featuring songs composed in the years following their initial recordings. Ten tracks were selected, with engineer Eric Cavalcante chosen to capture the band’s best qualities for the new album. Drums were recorded in 2024 by Jack Ferrante, with all strings played by Raph Ronin and vocals by Fabio Lima.
Two singles are scheduled for release in the second half of 2025, followed by the full album in early 2026. An European tour is being set to support the release of the second full-length album and to bring Arken’s music to new audiences.
